Manager - Owen Coyle

Coyle signed a three-year contract to become manager of Burnley Football Club on November 22nd, 2007.

The 41 year old, born in Paisley, arrived at Burnley with a reputation as one of Scotland's brightest young managers. His win ratio during his time as a manager north of the border was an impressive 50 percent.

Taking the Turf Moor hot seat meant leaving Scottish First Division outfit St Johnstone, the club he had managed since 2005.

He enjoyed tremendous success at McDiarmid Park, guiding the side to second in the table in his first two seasons in charge while also earning a nomination for the Scottish manager of the year.

2006 saw two incredible cup runs for the Perthshire side. They defeated Rangers en-route to the League Cup semi final and also reached the last four of the Scottish Cup before being beaten by Celtic at Hampden Park.

Coyle took over at St Johnstone after cutting his managerial teeth at Falkirk, where he won the First Division title as joint player manager. Prior to joining Falkirk he had a number of player-coach roles at Dundee United and Airdrie.

During a notable playing career he spent the vast majority of time in his native Scotland, scoring almost 300 goals in 700 appearances. His most notable time was with with Airdrie, where he scored 79 goals in two spells with the club.

A tall centre forward who won one cap for the Republic of Ireland, Coyle is no stranger to the Lancashire area. He enjoyed the best part of three seasons at Bolton Wanderers in the early 1990's, and also played against Burnley at Turf Moor in 1994.

He was still registered as a player during his time at St Johnstone but confirmed his retirement upon accepting the job as manager of Burnley.

Assistant Manager - Sandy Stewart

Sandy is a long time associate of Owen Coyle. Their friendship dates back to the days when they were players together at Airdrieonians in the late 1980's.

The Scotsman decided to leave his job as assistant manager at St Johnstone to take up a similar role with Burnley the week following Owen Coyle's departure.

Stewart did stay at St Johnstone long enough to lead them to the Challenge Cup title before the lure of a job in English football proved too great to resist.

The appointment of Stewart as assistant manager was one of Coyle's first moves when he took over at McDiarmid Park in 2005.

The pair first teamed-up at Airdrie United in the early 90's.

Ironically, at that time Stewart was the manager and Coyle his playing assistant.

Away from football, both Stewart and Coyle featured in the 2000 film 'A Shot at Glory'. The movie starred Robert Duvall and Michael Keaton in a story which centred on a small town Scottish football club with a fearsome American owner.

First Team Coach - Steve Davis

Steve has enjoyed a meteroric rise through the management ranks at a club where he is still revered as a player.

He was appointed assistant manager in November 2007, just over two years after initially joining the club as a scout in October 2005, to aid Chief Scout Cliff Roberts in his job.

Following the departure of first team coach Mark Yates in January 2006, Davis was appointed as his replacement.

He also took charge of the reserve team before being promoted to assistant manager following the departure of Dave Kevan in October 2007.

And following the departure of first team manager Steve Cotterill by mutual consent in November 2007, Davis finally achieved a "dream come true" by being appointed as caretaker manager ahead of the Championship visit to Leicester City.

He reverted back to the role of First Team coach following the appointment of Owen Coyle as manager later that month.

A popular figure at Turf Moor, the former Clarets skipper made over 350 appearances for the club in his three spells before leaving at the end of the 2002/03 campaign.

He went on to play for Blackpool and York City in the following campaigns where he began to get some experience of coaching and scouting ahead of his return to Turf Moor.

Chief Scout - Cliff Roberts

Cliff was Steve Cotterill's first back-room appointment at Turf Moor after being appointed as manager in June 2004.

Roberts, an ex-manager of Northwich Victoria and Hyde United, was already familiar with life at Turf Moor, having spent five years in the same role under former boss Stan Ternent before leaving at the end of the 2002/03 campaign.

He spent a year working for West Ham United before Cotterill brought the affable Liverpudlian back to Turf Moor.

Before his first spell at Burnley, Roberts was amongst Ternent's staff at Bury.

Goalkeeping Coach - Phil Hughes

Bigoraphy to come shortly ...

Physiotherapist - Andy Mitchell

Andy Mitchell arrived at Turf Moor shortly after Steve Cotterill.

The 27-year-old from Worcestershire, a fully qualified and chartered physiotherapist with a degree from Bradford University, had previously worked under Cotterill and was physio at Cheltenham Town between the years of 1999 and 2002 before beginning a Masters Degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds University.

Whilst studying for his Masters on a part time basis, Andy has broadened his CV with clinical skills, including hospital work and the treatment of cricketers.

He was always keen on a return to football though and after enjoying huge success along with Cotterill at Whaddon Road, Andy renewed that relationship at Turf Moor.

Andy is assisted by in his duties by Andy Schofield and Claire Judd.
