A skilful attacking player who arrived at the club from Barden High School in Burnley, Jay has progressed through the ranks.
The teenage striker was the only second year apprentice retained with the Clarets following the 2006/07 season, after starting at the Centre of Excellence for several seasons and becoming a regular in the youth team.
Jay was offered a professional contract at Turf Moor ahead of the 2007/08 season and celebrated with a goal on his senior debut in a pre-season friendly at Wrexham in July.
He made the senior bench for the first time in the Championship game against Bristol City at Turf Moor in December 2007, appearing as a late substitute.
And in January 2008, Jay joined Scottish First Division side Stirling Albion on a long-term loan until the 2007/08 season.
After training with the clarets team during the week the teen travelled up to Scotland to play for Stirling at the weekend.
The move was a positive one by Burnley boss Owen Coyle giving Rodriguez regular first team football, experience and in-turn making him a better player.
Rodriguez accepted a new 2 year contract which was offered to him by the club in May 2008. Jay will be hoping to impress the Burnley boss and cement himself in the Burnley starting line-up in the 2008/09 season
