Burnley boss Owen Coyle maintained his unbeaten record, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw against a Leicester City side who offered little going forward.
Defender David Unsworth opened his Clarets account on 19 minutes, but his smartly taken goal was cancelled out by Iain Hume with just 12 minutes remaining to leave Coyle looking for his first home win in charge.
After two wins from two in London over the last week, Coyle stuck with an unchanged side for the fourth consecutive game.
A flat start from both sides meant that a Robbie Blake free kick, which struck the wall from a good position, on 11 minutes was as good as it got for Burnley in the opening exchanges.
Soon after, Clarets started to get on top and superb work from Elliott and Gray seven minutes later found Robbie Blake in space but his effort was superbly saved by Foxes Marton Fulop.
The Turf Moor faithful didn't have to wait long for a goal because just second later David Unsworth smashed a Blake cut back beyond Fulop and into the net.
Blake almost doubled the lead on 25 minutes but after a great run into the box, he smashed his shot into a brave Leicester defender.
As the half entered the last minutes, Burnley continued to push forward but couldn't turn their possession and territory into another goal which would have certainly settled any nerves that existed around Turf Moor.
Leicester only threatened in short spells but only a slip in the box from Blake as he race through on goal stopped the former Bradford man doubling the Clarets lead just two minutes before the break.
A blistering drive from Alan Mahon in first half stoppage time was the last chance of the opening period and there will have been no complaints from boss Owen Coyle as his charges went in 1-0 up.
The Clarets started the second half brightly but had to wait until 51 minutes for the first effort on target, a 25 yard strike from top scorer Andy Gray that was well gathered by Fulop.
Aside from a 45 yard effort which the under-worked Gabor Kiraly watched fly wide, the visitors failed to create much as the Clarets - spurred on by a vocal Turf Moor - looked to increase their lead and kill off the Foxes.
Lafferty was the next to try his luck buy he dragged his shot just a couple of yards wide of the left hand post on 62 minutes after a driving run which started well inside his own half.
The young Northern Ireland international turned provider just two minutes later but Robbie Blake's shot was well blocked after Fulop spilled Lafferty's cross.
A superb ball from Mahon on 73 minutes found Lafferty again down the left but again the youngster found his path to goal blocked by Fulop who stood tall to parry his shot away.
The visitors got back on level terms 12 minutes from the end when a hopefully deep cross from the right found Hume in plenty of space and he made no mistake from six yards out.
Gray could have dragged the Clarets back in front on 81 minutes but he fire straight at Fulop after an inch-perfect through ball from Wade Elliott.
Burnley had the edge and Kyle Lafferty really should have squared the ball to Gray a minute later but chose to shoot after jinxing his way into the box and saw his short fly along the goalmouth.
Deep into injury time Clarke Carlisle almost snatched a dramatic late winner but his hopefully header was cleared off the line by a Leicester defender and the Clarets were forced to settle for a point despite dominating large parts of the game.
