A new era at Turf Moor began on a day when the club celebrated its rich 125 year history.
With new boss Owen Coyle at the helm, Burnley were looking for three points to make it a real day to remember and kick start their season.
But the Clarets had to settle for a point after battering Stoke City- especially after the break when they were virtually encamped in the visitor's half.

It was a somewhat frantic start from the Clarets - who took to the field in their Argentina-esque blue and white anniversary shirt - with Gray, Mahon and Lafferty trying their luck from range in the first five minutes.
The Clarets soon settled into their rhythm, but could not find the breakthrough as the visitors started to come into the game.
The first half was a fiery encounter with tasty challenges flying in from both sides earning Cresswell and Pugh for the visitors and Mahon for the Clarets yellow cards.
And it was Mahon who almost broke the deadlock on 37 minutes with a superb volley from 25 yards. The midfielder hit the ball sweetly enough but Stoke keeper Simonsen got his fingertips to it to touch it wide.

That kick-started the Clarets again and Robbie Blake was the next to test Simonsen two minute later, but again the former Everton keeper did well to keep the effort out.
Stoke did go close with a header just before the break in a rare foray forwared for the visitors, whose front pairing of Mamady Sidibe and Vincent Pericard looked out of sorts.
The score may have been all square at the break, but for Coyle and the Clarets faithful there were plenty of positives to be taken with Burnley playing with a real spring in their step and with a genuine belief.
And the second half started in much the same vein, with the home side looking to turn their vast possession into a much-craved goal.
As the rain poured down, the Clarets continued to pepper Simonsen's goal with shots and Blake and McCann both had efforts saved by the visitors' keeper in a lively first five minutes.
Kyle Lafferty then had the ideal chance to break the deadlock on 65 minutes. Blake beat the offside trap and squared the ball superbly for the Northern Ireland international, but Lafferty blazed his shot over from the edge of the box and the big chance went begging.

By now it was becoming one way traffic again and the introduction of Ade Akinbiyi on 76 minutes saw the Turf Moor crowd raise the volume in the hope that the Clarets could snatch a late winner.
And that hope almost became reality on 83 minutes when a great cross from Wade Elliott was headed goalwards by Chris McCann.
For the Irishman's header crept just wide of the Stoke upright much to the despair of McCann and the majority inside Turf Moor.
Substitute Joey Gudjonsson then stung the hands of Simonsen with a superb long range drive after great work from Chris McCann.
And the Icelandic star - who found appearances limited under former boss Steve Cotterill - tried his luck again deep into stoppage time, but again the Potters' keeper stood firm.
In the end the Turf Moor crowd, encouraged by a great Clarets display, had to rue an afternoon of missed chances and settle for a draw at the start of another journey.
