Robbie Blake was at his brilliant best as Burnley extended Wednesday's miserable start to the season with a convincing Hillsborough victory.
The talismanic striker set the Clarets on the road to their second successive away win early in the first half with his first league goal for the club since December 2004.

Blake then turned provider just after the restart, teeing up midfield dynamo Chris McCann for the clincher.
And that was more than enough to condemn the Owls to a sixth straight defeat - their worst start to a campaign in 140 years!
Not that Burnley were about to be charitable and offer their hosts their first points of the Championship season.
Steve Cotterill, whose pre-match rallying call was for a first clean sheet of the season, made two changes from the weekend in an attack-minded line-up.
Kyle Lafferty made his first league start of the season following a three-match ban. The Irish striker, 20 earlier this week, was preferred to Jon Harley on the left side of midfield.
The only other change from Saturday's 2-2 draw with Blackpool came in goal, where Gabor Kiraly replaced Brian Jensen in goal.
And the upbeat Clarets made a bright start, with Blake especially influential from the off.
The Clarets striker found Lafferty with a sensational cross field ball and when his shot spooned up off a defender, the unmarked Andy Gray volleyed wide from the edge of the area.
Wednesday's response came in the 15th minute when a smart one two released Francis Jeffers and the former Everton striker's low shot was blocked by Kiraly at his near post.
And almost instantly the Clarets were ahead. Elliott scampered down the right and when his low cross was only half cleared Blake composed himself and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.
Lafferty was inches away from extending the lead seconds after with a drive from distance that flashed narrowly wide.
And as Burnley moved up through the gears, a typical Blake spin in the area created room for a low shot that Lee Grant held well low to his left.
Graham Alexander's persistence created another opening for the visitors' midway through the half. The former Preston ace thundered into a tackle to release Elliott and his hanging far post cross was met by a firm, downward Lafferty header that was blocked.
The Northern Ireland striker had an even better chance to open his account moments later when Burnley again craved open the sleepy Owls defence.
This time it was a delicately threaded ball inside the right full back that released Lafferty, whose weak shot from an angle was comfortably saved by Grant.
Most of the danger to Burnley was coming down the right, where livewire winger Wade Small was giving proving a real thorn in Michael Duff's side.
But their best spell of the game as half time approached failed to break down Burnley's solid defensive door and the break arrived with the lead intact and boos echoing around Hillsborough.
Two minutes after the break the travelling Clarets fans were in full voice though as the Clarets doubled their advantage.
This time Blake was the creator in chief, robbing Frankie Simek near the defender's own corner flag and biding his time before pulling the ball back to McCann, who made no mistake from six yards.
Brian Laws changed his two front men on the hour to try to find a spark from somewhere.
And within minutes, Kiraly was forced into his first save of the night, turning over Kenny Lunt's free kick at full stretch after Clarke Carlisle was booked for a reckless challenge on the edge of his own box.
Joey Gudjonsson replaced hard-working goalscorer McCann with just over 15 minutes remaining - Burnley looking for fresh legs in midfield as the Owls showed more urgency to retrieve the situation.
Bu the closest they came as the Clarets coasted home was a Small shot that whistled just wide of Kiraly's left hand upright.
