Burnley and Palace shared the spoils in a non-stop thriller at Selhurst Park.

The Clarets twice led through Alan Mahon's first goal for the club and Kyle Lafferty's second half strike.

But twice they were pegged back, first by Leon Cort's towering header and, with just 16 minutes remaining when James Scowcroft snatched a point for the hosts.

And the Clarets had to survive a late siege - capped by three marvellous Brian Jensen saves - to earn a precious point from their trip to the capital and remain unbeaten on the road this season.

Burnley shot out of the blocks to force Palace back onto the back foot. With Lafferty operating wide on the right and Steve Jones hugging the left touchline, there was width and attacking intent from Steve Cotterill's side. And Jon Harley and Michael Duff's early efforts off target suggested his defenders were also keen to get in on the act.

Playing with pomp, the Clarets forced a series of unforced errors from the hosts and another half clearance almost brought the opener in the 17th minute.

Mahon capitalised on the loose ball and his half-hit shot was spooned into the air by Gray, who then forced a fine sprawling save from Gabor Kiraly with the resulting header.

But on the 23rd minute, Kiraly was left grasping at thin air as the Clarets launched a lightening raid to grab a wholly deserved lead.

John McGreal's precise tackle on Dougie Freedman started the move and Jon Harley cleared the ball to Gray on the half way line. The striker in turn allowed Jones to open his legs on the charge and the former Crewe striker cleverly delayed his cross, instead pulling the ball back to the edge of the area, where Mahon effortlessly side-footed the ball into the bottom corner of goal.

Palace could have no complaints at falling behind after being comprehensively played off the park. But they were a whisker away from conjuring up an equaliser in the 34th minute when James Scowcroft's speculative effort from 25 yards cannoned off Jensen's post with the Dane well beaten

And it took just three minutes of the second half to force the equaliser as Leon Cort heads home Kennedy's free kick.

That could have taken the wind out of Burnley's sails, but incredibly the visitors were ahead again within five minutes as Lafferty stuck out a leg at the far post to convert Jones' deflected cross.

And Gray could have wrapped the game up just after the hour when he raced clear, but was just caught in time by the backtracking Mark Kennedy.

The pulsating game took another twist 16 minutes from time when James Scowcroft rose highest to level the game up for the second time.

And the final twist in the tale almost belonged to Burnley as Mahon floated in a 77th minute free kick and second half substitute Stephen Foster, on for the injured McGreal, headed against the underside of the bar.

Palace somehow survived and, sensing a memorable victory of their own, Burnley were indebted to Brian Jensen for three top class saves in the dying minutes.

First the great Dane stayed on his feet long enough to deny McAnuff, who had danced his way dangerously into the box from the left.

Jensen then bettered that save with a magnificent one-handed stop to deny Mark Hudson last gasp glory.

And his coup de grace was a third incredible save as he flung himself across goal to somehow tip over Kennedy's injury time piledriver.
