Gaffer on St Johnstone Win
Burnley boss Owen Coyle believes Martin Paterson's best is yet to come - but has warned the £1m striker to let his boots do the talking!
Paterson had an eventful night in the Clarets 3-1 win over St Johnstone, opening the scoring with his second goal for the club, setting up Ade Akinbiyi for the second goal and then seeing his night end prematurely after the referee ordered him to be substituted for showing dissent.
The 21-year-old was voluntarily withdrawn just before the hour mark after arguing his case following a debatable throw in, awarded to the hosts.
Coyle later said: "Martin is 21-years-old, he scored 15 goals last year in a relegated team and he is a Northern Ireland international.
"We certainly feel he is only going to be better, but I have given him a rollocking in there.
"He is a young player who we have high hopes for and that's why we invested the money we did.
"But whether you think a decision is right or wrong, you can't be involved in any sort of back chat.
"He is a young kid and he wants to do his best, so he has learned his lesson.
"It was an important lesson, so it's probably good that it came in pre-season."

Coyle was largely satisfied with the victory at his former club, which saw the Clarets end the mini-tour of Scotland unbeaten with two wins and a draw.
He said: "For the first 20 minutes I thought we looked very slick and, controlled on our play and generally a very good team.
"I was disappointed with the goal we conceded and from then I thought we lost our way a little for 10 to 15 minutes.
"We scored a very good second goal and the second half was probably very similar to many of our pre-season games in terms of changes.
"When you make so many there is not much in terms of fluency, but I am very pleased again, especially with the fitness levels.
"We had to work hard because you can see they (St Johnstone) are a very good footballing side, so overall I was pleased with the finish.
Coyle revealed that former Dundee midfielder Kevin McDonald was rested as a precaution after picking up a knock to the foot in training.
He added that Dutchman Remco van der Schaaf, who has still had just one run out in pre-season, could return to the side at Accrington Stanley this weekend.
The gaffer closed by insisting he will make a decision on Latvian trialist Gatis Kalnins in the next 24 hours.
