Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty has finally joined Glasgow Rangers for a fee that smashes Burnley's outgoing transfer record.

The 20-year-old hitman has signed a five-year deal with the Scottish Premier League club that will net the Clarets a guaranteed £3m, plus £250,000 based on appearances and 10% of all future profits.

That totally overshadows the £1.75m received by Burnley when current striker Ade Akinbiyi joined Sheffield United in January 2006, before re-joining the Clarets a year later for under half of that amount.

An additional payment for Lafferty could be necessary, dependent on Rangers midfielder Alan Gow agreeing a move to join Burnley by Thursday, June 26.

Lafferty told the official Rangers website: "I'm delighted to be here.

"The move has been a long time in coming and I'm thrilled to be at the club at last."

Burnley Football Club would like to thank Kyle for his efforts and wish him all the best in his career in Scotland.
