Burnley Reserves signed off in style with a deserved 3-2 win over Accrington Stanley at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

A terrific opening half from a side made up entirely of youngsters failed to bring its reward against the League Two side's second string.

But after the break the goals flowed as the twin strike force of Wes Fletcher and Alex MacDonald carved open the Reds' defence.

Fletcher, who ended the Youth Team season with four goals in two games, took his personal total to five with smartly taken goal early after the restart, capitalising on good work from MacDonald's and firing home from the rebound after the keeper made a good save.

Stanley pulled a goal back against the run of play, but Clarets substitute Dominic Knowles restored the two-goal advantage before Stanley scored a late consolation.

Head of Youth Development Vince Overson said: "It was a terrific way to end the season and I thought we dominated the game from start to finish."
