Burnley Football Club can confirm that out-of-contract midfielder John Spicer has been released by the club.

And having offered free agent Brian Jensen a new deal, boss Owen Coyle has revealed the club will listen to offers for Gabor Kiraly, who has been granted permission to leave should the right opportunity arise.

Coyle said: "John has left the club and we wish him all the very best.

"Unfortunately he was injured when I arrived and then picked up a suspension.

"He's been unable to force his way into the side but he goes with our best wishes because he has been a fantastic professional.

"As for Gabor Kiraly, although he is under contract, I am going to be bringing a goalkeeper in and if someone comes in for him, I will not be difficult to deal with."

Spicer joined Burnley from AFC Bournemouth in summer 2005 on a three-year deal, but has mainly been restricted to appearances from the bench during his time at Turf Moor.

Versatility in his debut season with Burnley saw him deputise in goal for Brian Jensen when the Dane was sent off in the 2005 Championship game at Luton.

However, the 2006/07 season saw Spicer on the fringes of the first team squad and the highlight of a frustrating campaign of only 11 appearances was undoubtedly the only goal in a crucial Championship victory away to Birmingham.

The 24 year-old made just nine league starts for the Clarets this season, with 15 appearances coming as a substitute.

Burnley Football Club would like to wish John all the best for his future career.

Kiraly has been told the club will listen to offers

Hungarian international Kiraly moved to Turf Moor in summer 2007 on a free transfer following three years with Crystal Palace.

The 31 year-old has since battled it out with Brian Jensen for the number one jersey, making 27 league starts.
