Wade: Ambition Convinced Me To Sign
WADE Elliott today revealed that ambition persuaded him to sign a new three-year deal at Burnley.
The 29-year-old former Bournemouth wide man today (Thursday) handed Clarets fans the news they have been waiting for by agreeing terms to keep him at Turf Moor until the summer of 2011.
Elliott insisted: "I deliberated on the decision because it goes without saying it was a big one for me.
"But to be fair the gaffer made it clear how much he wanted me at the club and that has been the case with everyone I have dealt with along the way.

"That was one of the important aspects, knowing that I was wanted and the club was looking to move forward.
"Signing any new contract is not an overnight thing, but I'll be honest, if I didn't think this club had a chance of progressing and moving forward, then I wouldn't have signed.
"I have said all along how much I enjoy it here, but I remain ambitious and I wouldn't have wanted to just stay here and muddle along.
"I'm excited by the future because a lot is going to happen at this club in the future and a three year commitment is a statement on both sides that we are both looking in the same direction.
"The manager and the board have made it clear how much they want me and the two and a half years I have been here have flown by.
"I have enjoyed it so much and I was delighted to sign again because now we can push on and move forward."
Elliott can now be hailed as an 'adopted northerner', after putting down roots for a further three years.
The Southampton-born winger initially joined the Clarets in the summer of 2005 on a free transfer from Bournemouth.

Since then consistency has been the by-word, with progress seeing him land the club's official Player of the Year award in 2007.
And Elliott, who is a favourite to repeat the trick next month, admits he is as settled as ever in his life.
He said: "My girlfriend and I have moved up north and we love it up here.
"Football is always the priority though and everyone at this club, from the chairman to the supporters, have always made me feel really welcome.
"It's a great, warm club behind the scenes and from a personal and professional level it was just the right thing to do."
Attention now turns to the final six games of the season, where Burnley remain tantalisingly within reach of the play off places.
However, whatever the Clarets fate, Elliott is convinced the club is on the right track to success.
He said: "Premiership football remains the ambition, as ever.
"We have made it difficult for ourselves this season, but we are not out of it yet
"However, looking at the bigger picture and knowing what the manager wants to do and how ambitious the board are, it is definitely rosy and I am delighted to be a part of that."
